you’re on your own, kid.

“You’re on your own, kid.” Taylor Swift said this in her song “YOYOWK” on her Midnights album.

This song talks about the hardships that a person faces just to be in their place right now. Many people relate to this song, including myself. It can be about their studies, their love lives, or anything that they experience a lot of just to get there. At the end of the song, it says, “Because there were pages turned and bridges burned, everything you lose is a step you take.” I think this line holds power because it gives me the feeling that if I can’t get this, maybe something better will come to me. The point is, if we take a chance at something and the results aren’t what we expected, we shouldn’t give up. Failing once doesn’t mean we will get the same results. From those failures, we can learn lessons that will help us strive for the good things in our lives.

If you’re going to ask me what my favorite lyrics in this song are, that would be “From splashes to fireplace ashes, I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this; I hosted parties and starved my body like I’d be saved by a perfect kiss.” This line represents the hardships I’ve been through just to be here. Heads up to those of us who worked hard to achieve our goals in life and padayon!

Are you also a YOYOWK listener? What’s your favorite line?
